Drake University

An all-day clinic for high school french horn students

Typically held the first Saturday of November – save the date!  For the 2019-2020 school year, the horn day is planned for Saturday Nov 2.

Participants work on technique, prepare and perform horn ensemble pieces, and go out to lunch together on campus at Hubbell Dining Hall.  Rieman Music brings in new horns to try out, and if there is a home football game, everyone takes a break and heads over to the stadium to watch the Drake marching band’s half-time show.  It’s a full, fun day that always goes by in a blink of an eye but we make every second worthwhile!

Bulldog Horn Day is free and open to high school students.

The Final Concert (4:30 PM)  is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration is encouraged to aid in lunch planning, but not required.  Registration forms will be available in the fall preceding the horn day, but if you can’t find one, please feel free to contact Guinevere McIntyre directly.

All activities of Bulldog Horn Day take place on the Drake University campus, and are led by Drake University Teaching Artist of Horn, Guinevere McIntyre.
